What happens when you replace the “Doe” in “John Doe” with the word “Dough”? You get a clever and silly play on words. And in my case the marriage of “John” and “Dough” developed into a theoretical bakery that is located in San Francisco, CA, called John Dough Bakery.
As I designed the logo for the bakery my main goal was to maintain the meaning “John Doe” implies. Which is when the true name of the person, or identity, is unknown. The mark that I created has a central figure that I have named the unknown baker.
Through the use of heavy line work I have obscured the baker’s face. To ensure that the baker’s anonymity is complete, their chef’s hat covers their eyes.
